Summit Details
Input from the summit meeting will be used to help refine tools that are currently under development by NBI and others. As a group, they investigated the commonalities in building characteristics, technical solutions, ownership and delivery structures in an effort to identify repeatable solutions.
Opportunities explored in the summit include:
- Moving beyond widgets to system-based solutions.
- Identifying technical solution sets that can be implemented without costly energy modeling.
- Encouraging energy performance upgrades in all building rehabilitations.
- Thinking beyond cash flow to financing opportunities that encourage deep savings in existing buildings.
Deep energy savings in existing buildings is achievable with technologies and practices available today. By carefully addressing specific technical, market and policy barriers, the outcomes of the summit will help develop a framework and tools that can encourage widespread repeatability in the industry.
