Monthly Briefing Webinars

As a technical resource for both the green building and energy efficiency industries, New Building Institute (NBI) is in a unique position to offer insight on progress being made toward better energy performance in commercial buildings. As such, we would like to share what we're learning with NBI stakeholders during regular briefings scheduled for the fourth Wednesday of each month.

These invitation-only, 30- to 40-minute briefings will be conducted via webinar and include a short presentation and time for discussion. Stakeholder briefings will cover topics such as:

  • policy issues that help or hinder better energy performance in buildings,
  • energy-efficient technologies and design strategies with potential to reduce energy use in buildings,
  • new tools and resources that can help design teams improve efficiency, and
  • what it will take to move best practice along the path to net zero.

We recommend that you view recorded webinars in a browser other than Explorer.

Additional Resources

"2007 The Cost of Green Revisited" - This Davis Langdon study takes a second look at the question of the cost of incorporating sustainable design features into projects, this paper builds on the work undertaken in the earlier paper "Costing Green: A Comprehensive Cost Database and Budget Methodology," released in 2004.

High Performance Building Case Studies - NBI has developed a database of high performance buildings that perform 30 percent better than CBECS 2003. Many of them have measured performance data, which is a criteria by which users can sort. They can also be sorted by climate. Several of the zero energy and zero energy-capable buildings are included in the database.
