Measured Performance

Benchmarking & Feedback

Benchmarking begins with information on actual building characteristics and performance data. Through a continuum of strategies, this measured experience can be meaningfully compared  to peer group buildings or other target values.  Learn more about data sources, performance targets, tools to assist in benchmarking, and disclosure ordinances that use these techniques. Feedback & Interpretation Tools

Useful feedback requires the right data and key performance indicators. Overwhelming lists of detail can lead to inaction as much as the absence of information. NBI is working on a number of projects to identify the most important performance indicators for each audience, with the goal of progressing from high- level benchmarking to more specific investigative diagnostic feedback, extracting the most useful intelligence from readily available data at each stage.

Case Studies & Research

NBI is working to close the feedback loop between design and building operations so all parties can receive useful information that helps buildings reach their highest operating potential. NBI facilitates the development of measured performance case studies and conducts research on aggregated data to identify trends and cross-cutting lessons.
