IECC Public Comment Process
Of the three proposals submitted to the IECC, NBI collaborated with the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the US Department of Energy (US DOE) on EC147 and was joined by the AIA on its other two proposals (EC157 and EC165). EC147, EC157, and EC165 were each approved as submitted.
There are three actions that can be taken regarding each of EC147, EC157 and EC165:
- Refrain from filing a public comment, thereby allowing the proposal(s) to remain unchanged.
- File a public comment to have the floor modification(s) adopted.
- File a public comment to have some variant of the floor modification(s) adopted that would address comments raised at the public hearing and others that might be offered in the future.
Listed below are the floor modifications prepared in advance of the hearings in collaboration with commenters who had contacted the proponents. At the ICC hearings in Baltimore, the Chair ruled each of the modifications out of order and directed the proponents to address those issues during the comment period.
Interested and affected parties are encouraged to provide comments on the floor modifications which are proposed as a starting point for public comment. In your comments to the proponents, please address specifically the proposal number, the section number, the floor modification as is or how it might be revised, and any other specific comments about the proposals or proposed modifications. Additional proposals and a parallel comment process can be found on the US Department of Energy website.
