Commercial Energy Services Network (COMNET)
NBI manages the development of the Commercial Energy Services Network (COMNET). COMNET is designed to create a technical protocol for proving compliance with the EPACT 2005 commercial building energy tax deductions and with green building rating systems such as LEED.
The COMNET Commercial Buildings Energy Modeling Guidelines and Procedures (MGP) has been developed and published for integration into existing building energy modeling software to enable the compliance assessment of the building design. The software rules include inputs for non-regulated loads. In addition, the project team is working with the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) to develop an institutional framework to provide quality control for the modeling and potentially for field assessment of compliance.
